Minister Davies to brief media on the approved extension of the Automotive Programme Beyond 2020
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies will brief the media on the approved extension of the Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP) from 2021 to 2035 with amendments in support of the South African Automotive Master Plan (SAAM).

The SAAM’s focus will be on six areas namely; Local market optimisation, Regional market development, Localisation, Infrastructure development, Industry transformation as well as Technology and associated skills development. The realisation of these six objectives are projected to have a fundamentally transformative impact on the position of the South African automotive industry.
Minister Davies says government is seeking to arrest some of the APDP [Automotive Production and Development Programme] drawbacks through the SAAM process, while also ensuring that the long trajectory of industry growth is ensured.
Minister Davies adds that the Monitoring and Evaluation of the programme and related industry trends will be further enhanced in order to ensure progress towards the SAAM vision and objectives.
