Local Government Association host 10th National Municipal Managers Forum, 9 to 10 Jun

South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and City of Tshwane to host 10th National Municipal Managers Forum leading up to the municipal elections

SALGA and the City of Tshwane will this week host the 10th National Municipal Managers Forum (NMMF) in Centurion, Pretoria.

The Forum is convened ahead of the 4th Municipal Elections in which Municipal Managers play an important and critical role leading up to the elections and managing the transition for the new political dispensation in their municipalities. The Forum will enable and support Municipal Managers in these important roles and provide a platform for sharing of municipal innovations and good practices that will inform improvements in the sector. 

The NMMF will be attended by Municipal Managers, Heads of Administration, CEOs of public entities and private institutes, National and Provincial Treasuries and Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs (CoGTA).

To be convened under the banner “Managing the Transition”, the NMMF will reflect on the journey of local government for the past 15 years and seek to unpack key interventions required to strengthen local government. The Forum will dedicate a session for the municipal audit outcomes and highlight the key improvements necessary for the next term of local government. The Auditor General released the Municipal Audit Results for 2014/15 on 01 July 2016
